Jehovah's House

GOD has never had but one house.

It may have taken different forms and degrees of glory, but always there was but one.

The church of the New Testament is the house of GOD, filled with the glory of GOD to a far larger degree than ever was the house of Solomon, Zerubbabel, or Herod.

“In this place,” the spiritual temple in the spiritual Zion to which all saints have come, GOD gives peace (HAG 2:6-9; HEB 12:28).

Ezekiel's Temple

Ezekiel’s temple was never built.  These chapters were not given to Ezekiel as a pattern for a physical temple that was to be built in literal Jerusalem.  In Ezekiel 40-48 GOD is describing the spiritual blessings that were to come by using the figure of a grand temple. 

The temple was on a very high mountain (40:2) – MT Moriah would not qualify has a very high mountain (Isaiah 2:2; Daniel 2:35).  No temple was ever built like this one (Haggai 2:4-5).  There is no river in Jerusalem that remotely fits the description in 47:1-12.

No moment in history fits 47-48 – it is a figurative way of saying that GOD’S people will inherit exactly what GOD intended for them to have.  The temple is the spiritual temple, the church, of Ephesians 2:20-22.  The land represents the spiritual realm or relationship in which GOD’S blessings are given.  The priests and the Levites are the holy nation of priests that Christians are, serving the Lord and offering up spiritual sacrifices (1 Peter 2:5, 9).  The river represents the spiritual blessings that flow from His temple and benefit all who come into contact with them.

He is Able

Daniel 3:16-18; NKJV

16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king, "O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. 

17 If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. 

18 But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up."

Able – to have power, can (EPH 3:20-21)

Willing – to will deliberately, to have a purpose, to be minded: Of willing as an affection, to desire (LK 22:42; HEB 6:17; 2 PETER 3:9)

Jehovah's Watchman

Ezekiel is called to be a “watchman” in 3:16-27 at the beginning of his ministry (592 BC).

Ezekiel is called to be a “watchman” in 33:1-11 at the brink of the destruction of Jerusalem (586 BC).

He had faithfully warned from 592 – 586 BC - would they listen to his warnings now?
